History of Gin

"Spain is the world's leading country in per capita gin consumption"

Which, for a gin maker, is very good news!!

And I'm not the one saying this, it's the result of a recent study by Statista Consumer Market Outlook, one of the most important statistics portals in the world, Spain was in 2017 the country in the world where more gin was consumed per person.

Do you know the origins of gin?

Gin was born in Holland , yes bunkers, in Holland!! and not in england as most people believe, because there are those who bet that gin is more English than the "Queen Mother".
It was in 1550, at the hands of a doctor born in Germany and settled in Holland, Sylvius de la Boe.
And the Dutchman Lucas Bols founded a distillery in 1575 that would be dedicated to preparing the first commercial gin.

Types of Gin

  • Classic, fruity, citrus, herbal... There are several types of gin According to their distillation , they are distinguished up to 4 types of denominations selling:
  • Alcoholic beverages flavoured with juniper.
  • Gin.
  • Distilled gin.
  • London Gin.

Our Bunker gin is of the type London Gin is a handcrafted gin made with natural botanicals and without any sweeteners, with a long maceration and 4 times distilled in our copper still.
And the name London Gin is always dry, so it is sometimes accompanied by the word "dry" .

How to taste Gin?

For gin tastings, as with any other drink, certain steps must be followed: phase visual, olfactory, gustatory and tactile.
And follow certain requirements for temperature, utensils and certain % of quantities.
