¿Qué diferencia hay entre la ginebra artesanal y la ginebra industrial?

What is the difference between artisanal gin and industrial gin?

Gin has experienced a renaissance in recent years, becoming one of the most consumed spirits by both fans of the drink and new fans alike.

At BUNKER DISTILLERY, we are very proud of our artisanal spirits, including BUNKER ORIGEN , our artisanal gin made by our Master Distiller. But what is it that differentiates artisanal gin from industrial gin? In case you still don't know, we'll tell you the key differences that make artisanal gin a special and suitable option for true spirits lovers.

Manufacturing process: artisanal gin vs industrial gin

The most notable difference between artisanal and industrial gin has to do with the production process.

Industrial gin production is characterised by being highly automated and efficiency-oriented: the higher the output, the better. Industrial distilleries typically use large stills that run virtually 24 hours a day and work with standardised processes to produce large volumes in the shortest possible time. This, while effective, often results in a gin with less character and depth of flavour.

On the other hand, artisanal gin (such as our BUNKER ORIGEN and BUNKER CLASSIC ) is made in very small batches and its process is controlled down to the last detail so that everything goes well. Our Master Distiller, Enrique Lozano, carefully selects each ingredient and supervises the distillation personally. In this way, artisanal spirits reflect the quality and care with which they are made.

The artisanal approach to this type of distillate allows for greater experimentation and customization for each sip. The result is a rich and complex gin in which you can perceive that it has been a type of artisanal and meticulous elaboration.

This is the process that we want BUNKER DISTILLERY to be characterized by, which is why the production processes are controlled to the maximum.

Quality of Ingredients

Another major difference is in the ingredients. Industrial gins tend to use lower-cost ingredients to keep costs down and ensure mass production.

On the other hand, artisanal gin is made with ingredients of the highest quality. In the case of BUNKER ORIGEN, many of the ingredients are local and others have been selected after an enormous search for the best raw materials around the world by our Master Distiller.

Particular attention to the quality of raw materials and the use of natural botanicals not only enhances the flavour, but also ensures that every sip of the artisanal gin is a unique and pleasurable experience.

These are some of the main differences between artisanal gin and industrial gin. You will also find notable differences when consuming them: their flavour, aromas and nuances say it all. In addition, another of the most notable differences you can perceive is how their consumption affects your body after consuming them: or the well-known and feared hangover .
